I strongly recommend Stoneside Blinds and Shades. I googled them and found great reviews, which I place a lot of stock in, myself. Early on, I tried to go cheap. I'd spent a small fortune replacing my screens with windows. I wanted them to be big, like the screens were, not divided in half with a slide up window. I got casement windows that crank open. I thought I might be able to skimp a bit on window shades, right? Wrong. I went to Lowe's and got a guy from "Tools" who came over and pulled out a big book of samples for me to peruse. I asked a few questions about their sample blinds, like, ‘Do you have a rod that can link into this space so I can pull the shades down?’ He said no, they didn’t, that I’d have to rig up something for that. I decided that I’d gone this far to have windows to love, I couldn’t stop now. I called Stephanie. She came out and helped me fill out the order, then went home to order it on her computer. Meanwhile, I started second guessing my choice. She agreed to come out again, saying it was no problem. I might mention that I have an annoyingly cloying little puffball of a dog, under six pounds. Stephanie was kind enough to pet her, so my dog was on board with the company.I made my choice: silk shades that resemble shutters, somehow. They let the light shine through, the reason I got the big windows in the first place. She sent her installer, Vuong, in to remeasure, a failsafe the company does. Vuong found several things that would have been problematic. The installation day came. Vuong was delayed in traffic due to a bad rainstorm. He called and updated his arrival time. When he came, he set about doing what he needed. He never needed anything from me. He just silently went about what he knows how to do. Turns out, he’s an expert at what he does. I had to wait an extra week to get him because he was called on a big, new Atlanta hotel. Once I saw him in action, I understood. I have ten big windows. He installed everything in 1.5 hours. He also explained the reason as well as the operation of the cord glides: for safety and a better silhouette. I now have the coziest, brightest sanctuary. I added an electric fireplace which took it over the top. I gained another room in my house, and will be able to use my porch for four months more than before with no rain, cold air or pollen getting in. If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right. I’m only going to do this once. I now have peace of mind because my blinds are backed up by Stephanie, Vuong and the entire company. Make the decision. Call them, fearlessly, and tell them when they begin to speak, "SHUT UP AND GET OVER HERE AND TAKE MY MONEY!" It's one of the best decisions I have made as caretaker of my new condo. You know what? I’m worth it....and so are you.
